Rear Bumper

In order for the truck to be legal when running on the roads, it must have a rear bumper. So we needed to make one that met the dimensional requirements. But we wanted more than just the usual token bumper found on most trucks. We wanted one that actually had some substance to it, one that could take a licking. But it also had to get out of the way when running off-road. So we designed it to pivot up against the back of the body, out of the way.

The bumper was mounted on the two main plates that we made for the side of the frame rails. The ones onto which the front drive axle hydraulic pack was bolted.

The large square hole in each end of the bumper is to mount poles to for whatever reason we might want them. When the bumper is swung upward, the square holes are positioned horizontally so they can be used to slide our trail vice into for maintenance work.
