"After busting our humps for nearly thirty years, we decided it was time to go and find a life."

About the Fosters

In the 1970's, after finishing university, Warren and Wendy started the business that would monopolize their life for the better part of three decades.  It was a manufacturing concern which, for the first years, made products out of metal for a variety of market areas.  In 1982 they started producing items for the laboratory area and discovered that the niche fit them well.  So they decided to specialize solely in this area, and spent the next twenty plus years using computer aided design and CNC equipment to design and manufacture hazardous material work enclosures and other specialized equipment and systems for laboratories in North America.

In 2003, certain events convinced them that they shouldn’t be workaholics forever, and by 2005 they had divested themselves completely from their operations and happily joined the ranks of the permanently unemployed.

Not wanting to be rocking chair retirees, they needed a way to really get out and enjoy what they loved, the natural world. To this end, in 2007 they bought what would be the first of several adventure vehicles, a 1997 NAS Land Rover Defender 90, which Warren set upon modifying for on/off-pavement use. It was this vehicle that got them involved with the Land Rover community when they attended their first Land Rover rally in Moab, Utah in the fall of 2008.

After the rally they decided they wanted to do more of the same, but realized they needed something more comfortable to stay in than motels along the way. This led to the acquisition of a Newmar Class A motorhome. Comfortable enough for extended road trips, it was also large enough to safely tow the 3000 kilogram Defender behind it. The motorhome soon became their winter home in the sunny southwest of Arizona and California where they spent countless hours exploring the U.S. backcountry trails from the Pacific Coast to the Colorado Rockies.

Several years later Warren expanded the Defender's overland capability by designing and hand building an offroad trailer that they could tow for longer trips. And to be able to bring both the Defender and offroad trailer with them when travelling in the motorhome, Warren designed a stacker highway trailer that they had built for them by a respected aluminum trailer manufacturer.

In 2014, after attending several Overland Expo events and re-evaluating how they were using their rolling assets, they concluded that a larger overland truck that could carry a motorcycle would suit their needs better than the motorhome towing a car or trailer. This led to the design and production of the Volvo based exploration truck.
