Sedona & Surrounding Area

March, 2010

Sedona, Arizona, USA

The town of Sedona, located in central Arizona, is one of those unique and stunningly beautiful places that are scattered about the planet. This was our first visit, but it wouldn't be our last. The draw of its geologic splendour, and higher altitude evergreen forest is irresistible to those of us that spend time behind a camera.

Our stay in Sedona was at Rancho Sedona, the only RV park in the immediate area of the town itself. We were making our way back to the north after wintering in the Phoenix valley, and stayed amongst the red rock formations for several weeks while we explored the surrounding area.

The draw for us to the RV park was the unusual occurrence of a Great Blue Heron rookery in the trees directly overhead. One could just sit beside their motorhome and gaze up at all the activity of the rookery above.
