Portland All British Field Meet

September, 2010

Portland, Oregon, USA

2010 was our year for car shows. It started in May with the VanDusen Garden All British Field Meet in Vancouver, B.C. At that event we won 2nd prize in the Land Rover category.

Later in 2010 we decided to go to the Portland All British Field Meet in Portland, Oregon. This year the feature brand for the show was Land Rover. It was more about a weekend trip with some friends than a serious attempt at winning a prize. But before we went, we did spruce up the Defender a bit so it was nice and shiny.

Unlike the VanDusen meet where there was less than a dozen Land Rovers, the Portland meet had an amount that probably exceeded forty vehicles, with some very unique entries. The most notable of which was a Defender fire truck from Ireland.

When all the dust settled, and the awards handed out, our Defender won Best Land Rover in Show, as well as first place in the peoples choice category. We were stunned to say the least. Nevertheless, we now had something to brag about after spending a beautiful sunny weekend with great people.

Below are some photos from the weekend. Most of these photos were taken by our good friend Bruce Johnstone. He, his wife Cathy and their two dogs joined us at the event. They are true British car enthusiasts as they own an MGB sports car, a Triumph TR6 sports car, a Jaguar and a Range Rover as well. I didn't photograph much as all my time was spent talking to people about our Defender 90.

Thanks for the photos Bruce!
